Ensemble

In ballet, an ensemble is a group dancing as one.

Here three dancers are pressed so close that their outlines cross and their colors spill into each other: an orange torso, a face in green, a pale arm reaching across them all.

Yet each is lost in a separate movement, eyes lowered, listening to something only they can hear.

In these paintings the dancers are not in a space. They are the space.
